when is your blogiversary?

there are a couple of blogiversary’s in blogland right now. carol and bobbi are celebrating 1 year anniversaries. go visit them and shower them with virtual hugs and kisses!!

i was curious to see when my blogiversary was…

my first blog post was may 11, 2005. it was not an interesting post.

man, was i boring! early on, i tried to establish why i wanted to blog. i thought i would just share my thoughts with the world about the world. knitting related content is much more interesting. so i’m calling my blogiversary july 19 2006. (mental note, put date in palm pilot).

in knitting related news, i finished my mother in law’s socks! i was so excited to have them finished, i didn’t have time to photograph them. i tried them on manny before, but her foot is smallish. when i went to the in-law’s house to drop them off, i asked sandie to try them on and borrowed her camera to snap a pic:

needles: 2 – 2.5mm, 60 cm addi circ’s
notes: size 8, toe up, 64 stitches, short row heel, back-stitch bind off, only 9 gm left of the ball!

i loved this yarn!! love! love! love! (am i being too enthusiastic?) the yarn was soft and squishy, tightly spun and a dream running through the fingers. were it not for the skimpy yardage, i would crown this my favorite sock yarn. however, i think it’s worth the 20 bones or so that you plunk down for a skein. i’m looking forward to knitting with the other two skeins i have in my stash. hooray! by the way, she liked the socks. (one day, i was knitting a pair of socks for butter…and she casually mentioned that she might enjoy some socks…and that was that, poof!, mil socks were born.)

also not pictured today: the letter a, a beautiful columbus morning, my yarny present(s) from gena and some knit picks shine for baby toys!! some day i will get out the camera.

quick post (sans pictures)

hi all. just checking in to let you know i didn’t fall off the face of the planet. i’ve been working crazy extra shifts lately. and when i get home, i’d rather read about your knitting adventures than post about the piddley progress on my little projects.

maybe i’ll get it together this weekend and fire up the dye pots! i have also assigned some of my stash to some projects. is it too late to try clapotis? i have a ton of kp bare, over 1300 yards…since i’ve turned up my nose to non-superwash socks, i need another project for this stuff. i thought i could knit it up and then dye it since i’m partial to darker (read: plain and neutral) clothing. do you know anyone who has knit clapotis in a similar yarn? i need inspiration pictures!!

i won! me! can you believe it?

hell-O! can you be-LIEVE that i actually won something? little ol’ me? yeah, me neither. but i did! have you heard about cider moon yet? they are a small indie dyeing gig located in central ohio.

their stuff is gorgeous. GORGEOUS. the colorways just call to me…. i first heard of the company through my friends gena and lynne. they went on and on about the yarn. “sure. whatever,” i yawned. after all, i have the internet at my fingertips and bmfa str were the rage…and, at the time, no lys carried a wide selection of sock yarn, so how good could they be? (to be fair, all of my lys have beefed up their selection of sock yarn. gulp. i am in trouble). eventually i did come across cider moon in the wild (at knitter’s mercantile…a wonderfully friendly store with a wide selection…but more on them in another post). they were right…i mean, come on, look at these colorways. anyway, they ran a contest for their yarniversary…and yours truly was one of the lucky recipients. (here are the other winners and an explanation of their changed base yarns). and here is what i won:

guage 8 stitches / 12 rows = 1″ on US 1’s

this is truly an autumn inspired yarn. i had a hard time capturing the true colors on my digital camera. there is a definite yellow tone throughout the skein. i think it’s purty. i almost took a bite out of it. (apple crisp is one of my fav desserts).

sigh.

anyway, not much on the knitting front. here is a pic of the current progress on my lime uptown socks:

notes: 72 stitches cast on, 2″ cuff, cuts yarn at heel?!? getting tedious on sock #2

out of frustration i will be putting these down and casting on for my future mil’s socks. it’ll be my first spin with colinette jitterbug. keep your fingers crossed….

ohhh! and how could i forget to post my march sock club yarn??!?!
